Thank you very much for those of you who could attend the First Skin@Bath Symposium 13th-14th December. The event was a great success and the majority of invited speakers and delegates expressed to see similar events in the future.
This event also opened a dialog with the Chinese delegates from Chongqing University who are willing to host the first China-UK skin network Symposium in September 2018 in China.
The Symposium gathered together 108 participants in the form of invited speakers, invited chairs, company sponsors (Sanofi, Abbvie, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson, La Roche-Posay/L’Oreal, Derm Eyes/Dermocular, Blue Photonics) and delegates (Academics, Postdoctoral fellows, Postgraduate students, Undergraduate students, Dermatologist consultants and medical trainees).
International speakers and delegates joined us from as far as USA, Canada, Israel, China, France and Turkey.
This Symposium was co-hosted by the University of Bath , Royal United Hospital, Bath and Bath Institute for Rheumatic diseases. The event was also generously supported by the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology and Faculty of Science of the University of Bath.
The program of speakers was subdivided into 8 sessions with 39 invited speakers. There was also 10 poster presentations.
The excellent nature of the scientific program was recognised and accredited by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the united Kingdom (12 Category 1 CPD credits, course code RCP 116003).

In the New Year, I will organise a special thank you session for the helpers of this Symposium without whom we could not succeed with such an event.
This event was organised as part of one of the strategic priorities of this department’s Medicines Design theme to foster interdisciplinary collaborations for innovative projects in skin photoprotection as well as skin-related drug design, delivery and therapy both at national and international levels. We envision to attract ground-breaking program grants and strategic global funding programs in partnership with pharmaceutical industry to tackle the unmet needs of individuals/patients. This will translate research into development and delivery of innovative approaches and therapies for skin photoprotection and skin-related disorders, respectively.
