The Venue

The Symposium will be held at: The Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW.

The Guildhall is in the heart of the city, next to the Abbey, Roman Baths and Pump Rooms. The venue is fully accessible.

Directions to the venue:

Travelling By Car:

  • There is no dedicated parking on-site. You can download a map here showing all of the City Centre Car Parks. A price guide for these is available here.
  • The nearest large car park is in Southgate (250 metres walk), and live information on the number of currently available spaces at Southgate is available here.   Southgate has allocated disabled parking spaces on Level 1, from which street level is accessible by a lift. There are also on-street disabled parking spaces outside of the Guildhall.
  • There are four Park & Ride carparks on the outskirts of the City, details of which are contained in a leaflet that can be downloaded here.  Live information on the number of currently available Park & Ride spaces is available here.

 

Travelling by Public Transport:

  • From the Bus Station, walk east approximately 50 metres to the Train Station Forecourt, then follow the directions from there.
  • From the Train Station Forecourt, walk north up Manvers Street approx 250 metres, past the Bath Abbey on to the high street and the Guildhall is opposite the bus stops on the right hand side.
  • From the Sightseeing Bus Stops at Bath Abbey, walk up from the Abbey, on the right hand side is the Guildhall.

Drinks Reception

To open the conference we will be hosting a welcome drinks reception at the Victoria Art Gallery, Bath on Wedneaday 11th December from 6.30pm-7.30pm. This reception is sponsored by BIRD and is free of charge to attend but please do RSVP so we can cater for you. Please contact BIRD@birdbath.org.uk to book or include this on your registration form.

Dinner Reception

If you have yet to book in for the dinner reception, please contact BIRD@birdbath.org.uk as soon as possible. 

The dinner reception will be held at the Symposium venue (The Guildhalll) on the Thursday 12th December  2024 from 6.30 pm.

Hotel Information

If you have asked for the organising team to book accommodation for you in advance, the team will be in touch separately. The room will be booked under your own name and has been paid in advance.

Taxi Information

Taxis are available from the front entrance of the train station, and by the Bath Abbey. The venue is less than 10 minutes by foot from the station and hotel, and the time in a taxi is possibly not a lot less!

Sightseeing

Many of the top tourist spots in Bath are known about by reputation alone – the Roman Baths, the Pump Rooms, Pulteney Bridge, various museums and galleries, etc.

To decide what might suit you the best place to go is the Tourist Information Centre.

Bath bus tours can be booked in advance.
